I’ve kept my phone out of my room for SEVEN YEARS now! So worth it. One of my favorite tools to make this possible is my Loftie alarm clock. It has a gentle alarm, awesome white noise (please try the fire crackling mode while reading in bed—my fav!). I’ve set automatic sound and light routines that cue my mind and body to wind down at night, too. My fav feature? Every night I turn the display completely OFF. No worrying about what time it is in the middle of the night. 🙂

This is the sweetest book and “experience” for families with young children. You read one part of the story each day leading up to Christmas. (advent style) I read it with my 9 year old daughter a few years ago. Couple this with Yoto’s NEW audio version of this book!

Played with in the garden/backyard a lot with real dirt and a small shovel. One of Tyler’s favorite childhood toys!

We aren’t into Minecraft here, but we know many families are and this is a great real-world bridge. 🙂 I watched a group of kids play with these for an hour during our fitness class the other day. So fun!

Tyler made our kids the most adorable checkout stand years ago, but this is a great store-bought option. We often kept the chalkboard by it, so this combo is perfect!

Subscribed since May 2023—our kids still love assembling these kits. Much like the fun of assembling a Lego kit, but the result is a working machine with an entertaining explanation (Mark Rober!) of the scientific principles behind how it works. Tons of fun. *Our kids have assembled these many times without watching the video. No screen is required. 🙂 

The Klutz brand does a great job of teaching new skills while having fun, and this Klutz / Lego combo is a favorite. Have a fun time building Legos while learning machine design!

Our teen girls use their lavendar-scented neck wraps on the regular! It’s the perfect way to relieve the school stress, time spend on a screen doing homework, and muscle tension from dance/sports. We got ours at a local lavendar farm, but this one is getting great reviews.

Our 16 year old has used this book so many times over the years! Yes we know there are so many great YouTube hair tutorials, but there’s something about sitting in your room with a book and a mirror and following instructions. It’s been a great resource for our pre-teen and teen girls.

For anyone who’s ever had playtime devolve into arguments about who got hit and who didn’t, laser tag is here to set the record straight. Safe and simple to play, this high-energy game is a ton of fun.
